How the crossword solver works
Type a letter or a question mark for each square of the answer. ?A??E finds five-letter words with A second and E last. Wortfinder shows every word that fits at once, in alphabetical order and square by square. A star stands for any number of squares: *ING finds every word ending in -ing.
Frequently asked questions
Does it know the answer to my clue?
No. Wortfinder does not look up clues; it finds the words that fit your squares. Each letter you add makes the list shorter, and the answer usually jumps out.
Why is a word missing?
The word list is the one our Scrabble finder uses (US list): every inflected form, but no names, places or abbreviations, which crosswords often ask for, and nothing longer than 15 letters.
Can I use it for Scrabble too?
For Scrabble, use the pattern search: it adds up the points and can keep only the words your tiles can make.
