Privacy policy
In short: Wortfinder needs no account, sets no cookies and sends your letters nowhere. The search runs entirely in your browser.

When you open a page (hosting)
The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). To deliver the pages and protect them from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data of each request: IP address, time, page requested, browser and device type. We keep no access logs ourselves. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which covers the transfer to the USA (Art. 45 GDPR).
Visitor statistics
We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies, without storing anything on your device and without profiles of individual visitors. We only see totals: pages viewed, referring sites, browsers, device types and countries. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
What you type
Letters, patterns and words you type are only processed in your browser and are not sent anywhere. A screenshot you use to read in your board also stays on your device.
Stored on your device only
Your browser remembers a few settings in its local storage: light or dark mode, the language you picked, whether the premium squares are open, and the words you played last in the Five-Letter Puzzle. This data never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply and delete them once that is done. Email is forwarded to our mailbox by Cloudflare (Email Routing). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
No ads, no tracking cookies
There are currently no ads and no third-party cookies on Wortfinder. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). An email to contact@wortfinder.app is enough. If you think we are not handling your data properly, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at) or to the authority in your country.
