How to play the Five-Letter Puzzle
Type an English five-letter word and press “Check”. The squares then show how close you are: green means “just right”, orange “in the word, elsewhere” and grey “not in the word”. You have six tries. After that a new word is ready straight away, no waiting until tomorrow.
Frequently asked questions
Which words can be the answer?
Only well-known everyday words such as HOUSE, LIGHT or BREAD. Any five-letter word from the Wortfinder UK word list counts as a guess.
What happens when a letter appears twice?
Each letter of your guess is rated on its own. If the answer has only one E, only one E of your guess turns green or orange, and a second E stays grey.
Can I play on a computer?
Yes. Tap the keys on the screen or just type on your keyboard; Enter checks the word.
